Before the inauguration of the President Buhari led administration, the price of fuel was N87, five years after (2020), the price has skyrocketed to N151.56.
Despite the above fact and many others, president Muhammad Buhari has specifically called out past Nigerian leaders of the country between 1999 and 2015, saying they performed below average compared to what he has done.
President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday, during the nationwide broadcast to mark the Nigeria’s 60th independence called out his successors in office, stating they did not do what his regime has done or is currently doing despite the scarce resources.
Those that were in power between the said period were, Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo, Umar Yar’adua (late) and former President Goodluck Jonathan.
A bag of rice was sold to Nigerians during former president Goodluck Jonathan’s administration for N8,500, the dollar was N200 to Naira, under five years, in the President Buhari administration, rice is N25,000 and dollar is N420.
The President however ignored these glaring facts and showers praises on himself in his independence day speech earlier, president Buhari said, “No government in the past did what we are doing with such scarce resources.
“We have managed to keep things going in spite of the disproportionate spending on security.
“Those in the previous governments from 1999 – 2015 who presided over the near destruction of the country have now the impudence to attempt to criticise our efforts.
“In the circumstances, a responsible government must face realities and take tough decisions.”
